Lisa Lisson Addresses the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network On Learned Resilience

The DeGroote Women’s Professional Network recently invited Lisa to serve as keynote speaker at one of their events in Burlington, Ontario. In her speech, Lisa discussed how resilience is about nurturing your mind the same way you nurture your body with nutrition and exercise. She also shared that resilience isn’t something you’re born with, but it is something that can be learned. That realization—along with the belief that you should focus on what you can control and let go of things you can’t—helped guide her through grief and one of the most difficult periods in her life. Lisa’s speech empowers other women to develop  and apply resilience to their own lives to promote their personal and professional growth. Established in early 2016, the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network (DWPN) promotes the advancement of women in business by providing access to professional development, networking opportunities, mentorship platforms, and philanthropic initiatives. The DWPN offers resources for women beginning at the undergraduate level and continues them as they advance through their professional journeys. Additionally, the network commits to addressing matters of interest for women in various industries. In its first year of operation, the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network sold out every one of their events and received encouraging support from the community. Bringing in entrepreneurial leaders like Lisa Lisson for their speaker series is just one of the many types of events that the DWPN hosts to support the advancement of women in business.
